Design Day- September 1st, 2016
Designer visits classrooms: The designer will meet with groups of 40 to 75 children (2-3 classrooms) at a time. These groups will assemble in classrooms with children gathered on the floor ready to talk with the designer. The designer will listen to the ideas of the children and what they would like to see in the playground.
Designer draws: The designer will draw at a table in a multipurpose room or in the cafeteria for the next two hours. During their lunch, groups of children can join the designer for a few minutes at the drawing table. When the first group arrives, the designer will briefly explain what’s taking place. So the designer is free to keep drawing, volunteers will explain what’s happening as the other groups arrive. The designer will try to incorporate as many ideas as possible from the children.
The designer will meet with the entire committee on Design Day.The committee meets to discuss final comments about the schematic design, a preliminary schedule, and a final review of committee responsibilities.
